24/7 Cover, Second To None.
At Taurus Cranes & Hoists Ltd., we pride ourselves on the quality of service and the preventative maintenance needed for lifting equipment. Our qualified and experienced lifting equipment engineers will provide call outs based around the usage/duty ratings of your lifting equipment.
We cover the whole country and wherever we go to assist, will always carry extra stock and spares in our fleet of vehicles for the majority of lifting equipment. When carrying out our services, the equipment will be covered under PUWER regulations 1998.
This ensures that all equipment should be ‘suitable’ for the intended use, safe for use, maintained in a safe condition and inspected to ensure it is correctly installed and does not subsequently deteriorate, used only by people who have received adequate information, instruction and training and accompanied by suitable health and safety measures such as protective devices and controls.
Lifting equipment falling under this category will include emergency stop devices, proper isolation from sources of energy and also have clear signage, visible markings and warning notifications in place.
The importance of production to our customers and clients is paramount in our minds, which is why we offer a 24/7 policy to cover breakdowns and faults. After each service, the engineer will sit down with the site contact and go through any priority repairs. A detailed report of the condition of each piece of equipment and the parts that make it up will be presented along with a quotation for any repairs required.
A regular review of equipment maintenance will always be carried out where required and our engineers will always be on hand to answer any questions or provide advice for customers.
We Follow A Robust Services Cycle
Our service cycle is robust and will ensure that your lifting equipment will last for years to come. We regularly perform inspections and preventive maintenance to help reduce the chances of moving parts failing. Lubrication and oiling of such parts, deep cleaning and adjustment of levers, gears and such will be carried out and should reduce the amount of downtime needed during our regular maintenance checks.
All our inspections are carried to meet legal requirements under LOLER regulations by our team of qualified and knowledgeable engineers. Some people get confused as to the differences between LOLER and PUWER. Having lifting equipment thoroughly examined is a legal requirement set out under the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER). These regulations are very specific in distinguishing what should be thoroughly examined and when.
Taurus Cranes advises and helps their clients ensure that all their equipment is safe to use and in date within the set-out inspection criteria. The equipment is marked up with a colour code system for a simple visual indication that equipment is in date for all your operators.

Training Programme
Our training programme consists of familiarising our clients with their crane or lifting equipment and is undertaken at our offices based in Burscough. The training will ensure each of your site operators has an understanding of specific controls and protocols surrounding the various pieces of and parts of lifting equipment that exist on your site.
We also cover the basic dangers and hazards that can present themselves when using lifting equipment and if necessary can offer more detailed structured training from one of our training from one of our training partners. Please be aware that under PUWER regulations it is the employers responsibility to ensure that all your employees and competent to use the equipment that is part of their role.
